Less than a week after its release, a new thriller by author Dan Brown is already being sold at a discount from its recommended retail price.
The Lost Symbol was released worldwide on 15 September.
Some 100,000 copies were released in New Zealand last week, at a recommended retail price of $60.
But major outlets such as Whitcoulls, Paper Plus and Borders are now selling The Lost Symbol for $40.
Independent bookstore prices range from $45 to $50 and some retailers are selling the book for $32.
Publisher Random House says it will not know until Thursday how many copies have been sold so far.
