Former Treasury Secretary Murray Horn has been appointed chair of the new National Health Board.

Health Minister Tony Ryall announced last week that the Government will set up a National Health Board within the Health Ministry to take over planning, funding and supervision of national health services.

It followed recommendations from a Ministerial Review Group headed by Dr Horn.

Mr Ryall says the full membership of the new board will be decided over the next few weeks.

He says it should include senior doctors and nurses to ensure strong clinical input.
