Former All Blacks' halfback Byron Kelleher has been given a two-month suspended prison sentence and fined $7,000 for his part in a drink-fuelled scuffle following a car accident in France.

Kelleher, who now plays for Toulouse, admitted both being drunk while driving his car and hitting out at the people in the other car during the incident last month.

He did not have his driving licence taken away as the level of alcohol in his blood was not taken at the time.

Kelleher injured his shoulder and right eye in the incident.
