It has been revealed in court that an alibi witness for a man accused of killing a Palmerston North drug dealer has himself been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Stephen Hudson, 39, is before the High Court at Wellington charged with murdering Nicholas Pike near the Desert Road in 2002.
The Crown says Mr Pike owed Stephen Hudson drug money.
Defence lawyer Mike Antunovic says the crucial issue is where Stephen Hudson was on 18 March 2002, the day the murder is said to have occurred.
Mr Hudson's sister Falene Nixon told the court her brother arrived at her home on 15 March 2002. She said she remembered that date because her friend had had a baby the day before.
She later admitted that after police intercepted a phone call in which she discussed parts of the case with her ex-husband, he was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
