An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale has been felt in Wellington, Wairarapa and the Kapiti Coast.
It occurred at 11.09am on Wednesday.
The quake was centred in the Wanganui basin, 30km northwest of Otaki, at a depth of 50km.
