A man has been charged with manslaughter following a shooting incident in Warkworth, north of Auckland.
The accused's partner was taken to a medical centre with gun shot wounds earlier this month, but was dead on arrival.
Her 21-year-old partner was initially charged with unlawfully possessing a firearm. On Monday, he was charged with manslaughter when he appeared in North Shore District Court.
The judge has read from a summary facts, detailing how the accused had been posing for a photo with a firearm.
The court heard his partner was pointing the camera at him when the weapon accidentally discharged, shooting her in the head.
The name of the accused and the woman are suppressed.
The man has been remanded on bail to appear early next year.
