Police in Auckland have been examining security camera footage as they investigate a rape in the city centre early on Christmas Eve.
Detective Sergeant Andy King of the Adult Sexual Assault Team says the rape occurred between 2am to 3am on 24 December.
He says the woman had been at a bar with friends, and was waiting for a cab on Albert Street, but ended up in Mills Lane with a male stranger who raped her.
Detective Sergeant King says some details remain unclear as the woman has so far been too traumatised to speak, however officers hope to formally interview her on Monday.
He told Summer Report a forensic scene examination has been completed, and officers have been looking at security camera footage from the area.
