Out-of-court deal reached to repair Westpac Stadium

Westpac Stadium Trust and building contractors have reached an out-of-court settlement to patch up the Wellington venue's leaky roof and replace rusting outside walls.

Late last year, the trust launched legal action against the stadium's builders, Fletcher Construction, for $4.86 million in damage because of a leaking roof and deteriorating cladding.

Trust chief executive David Gray says he cannot divulge the cost of the repairs, except to say it comes well under the nearly $5 million figure motioned in the High Court and will include a contribution from the trust.

The 34,500-seat stadium is largely funded by Wellington city and regional ratepayers.

Mr Gray says the repair work will start in October and be completed by next August and will not interrupt any events at the stadium.
