Feud reignites between mayor and blogger

6:08 pm on 13 August 2010

A long-running feud between the mayor of North Shore City and a bloomer has erupted in public once more.

Andrew Williams sent an e-mail to media overnight on Thursday responding to a posting about him on Cameron Slater's blog.

He attacked the character of Mr Slater and Sunday Star-Times journalist Jonathon Marshall, both of whom have criticised the mayor's past conduct.

The newspaper earlier this year carried a story of Mr Williams urinating against a tree in Takapuna, and Mr Slater's blog uses no-holds-barred language about the mayor.

Mr Williams says the men's work amounts to political harassment and that Mr Slater is linked to the Citizens and Ratepayers local body ticket run by his father, John Slater.

The mayor says police have advised him he may have grounds for a complaint of harassment, while John Slater says the e-mail may be actionable.
