A Christchurch man shot in the buttocks last week remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
The 55-year-old was shot at close range at a flat in the suburb of Linwood on Friday morning.
Detective Senior Sergeant Darryl Sweeney says he has serious internal injuries and has undergone surgery. He says it was a very personal and serious attack, and the victim's injuries are significant.
Detectives worked through the weekend in an effort to identify and locate the offender, and Mr Sweeney says they're following positive lines of inquiry.
