Black ice warning for Dunedin drivers

6:46 pm on 10 July 2013

Police in Dunedin say black ice has caused a spate of crashes in the city and are urging motorists to slow down.

Road policing manager Senior Sergeant Phil McDouall said officers attended seven mostly minor vehicle crashes in the city on Wednesday morning.

In a serious crash, a small truck collided with a lamp post in Brockville Road shortly after 6.30am and the male driver was taken to hospital.

Mr McDouall said drivers setting out in the early morning in particular need to be extremely careful.
