An elderly cyclist has died after colliding with a car in Christchurch.
Police say the 76-year-old man's bike hit the car in the suburb of Mairehau shortly before 5pm on Tuesday and died at Christchurch Hospital shortly after midnight.
A police spokesperson says initial investigations indicate that the cyclist had been travelling south on Hills Road and swerved into the path of a car also travelling south.
