Gosnell to appeal teen murder conviction

5:50 pm on 26 July 2013

The man found guilty of murdering Christchurch teenager Hayden Miles is appealing against the conviction.

Gavin Gosnell had already admitted attacking the 15-year-old, before cutting up his body and burying it in different cemeteries in Christchurch in August 2011.

At his trial in the Christchurch High Court in April this year he denied a charge of murder, saying he didn't mean to kill the boy.

Gosnell's lawyer Tony Rickard-Simms told Radio New Zealand on Friday that an appeal was lodged about two weeks ago, but no date for the hearing has been set.
