Lines company to consult customers

9:17 am on 27 July 2013

Wellington Electricity plans to consult customers over what level of extra investment may be needed to improve the resilience of its lines network, and how much they are willing to contribute.

The storm on 20 June cut power to 30,000 homes and businesses, some of whom were not reconnected for more than a week.

And 3500 customers lost power after the magnitude 6.5 earthquake last Sunday evening.

Wellington Electricity said it is keen to initiate a public discussion about the security of supply in the region, which would include looking at earthquake resilience.
