Central New Zealand rocked by an earthquake on Monday morning.
The magnitude 5.4 quake occurred at 1.07am. It was centred 25km east of Seddon at a depth of 12km.
It was felt in Canterbury, Taranaki and National Park.
It was one of the largest aftershocks to hit the region since a magnitude 6.5 earthquake beneath Cook Strait on 21 July. EQC has received more than 2000 claims.
