Police are calling for witnesses to a serious assault in Blenheim in the early hours of Sunday morning to come forward.
Marlborough CIB has launched an inquiry into the assault, which left a man, 44, with serious facial and head injuries.
A police spokesperson says emergency services were alerted at about 7 am on Sunday when an unidentified man called an ambulance after finding the victim lying on the footpath in Queen Street.
The spokesperson says police would like to speak to that person as soon as possible.
Police have also released images of two males seen in the area around the time of the assault and would like to speak to them or hear from anyone who recognises them.
