Airlines were working to clear a backlog of flights at Christchurch Airport after heavy morning fog disrupted air traffic.
Hundreds of passengers had flights delayed or cancelled as fog blanketed the airport and much of the central business district.
Several domestic departures and arrivals and one international departure were delayed while at least one domestic arrival and one domestic departure were cancelled.
Fog was lifting by midday but an airport spokesperson advised passengers to check with their airline or the Christchurch Airport website to find out the status of their flight.
