Patients transferring to new building at New Plymouth

1:10 pm on 5 August 2013

Patients and staff have begun transferring from old wards to Taranaki base hospital's new building in New Plymouth.

The recently completed $80 million upgrade includes five 30-bed wards, six operating theatres and a children and young person's ward.

Seven patients from the children's ward were the first to move on Monday morning. Other wards will be shifting throughout the week.

Redevelopment project manager Steve Berendsen is asking for the public's understanding during the move.

He asks people to limit visiting times this week while everything settles in.
