Several thousand rugby fans have turned out in Hamilton to officially congratulate the Chiefs for winning the Super Rugby championship title for the second year in a row.

The Chiefs beat the ACT Brumbies, 27-22 on Saturday night.

People of all ages crammed into Garden Place in central Hamilton as the Chiefs team paraded down Victoria Street on two flat deck trucks on Tuesday afternoon.

Mayor Julie Hardaker presented each team member, including coaching and management staff, with the city's Outstanding Achievers Medal.
