The Department of Conservation has a new director-general and chief executive. He is Lou Sanson, who is currently the chief executive of Antarctica New Zealand.
The appointment is for three years and is Mr Sanson's first appointment as chief executive for a major government department.
State Services Commissioner Iain Rennie said Mr Sanson has a proven commitment to conservation and has the focus to roll out the department's new business model, as well as changes to the culture and practices within the organisation.
Mr Sanson will assume the role on 14 September.
