MetService has issued a severe weather warning for Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
Severe westerly gales are predicted to develop over the lower North Island on Wednesday morning, with wind gusts of 120km/h in exposed parts of Hawke's Bay south of Napier, and Wairarapa north of Masterton.
MetService said the gales are expected to ease in the afternoon.
