The Samoan government has ordered some infant formula off shop shelves in the wake of the Fonterra contamination scare.
Samoa's Health Ministry issued the recall on Tuesday night saying the two Karicare brand products are unfit for human consumption and must be removed and delivered to the ministry, Radio New Zealand International reports.
Baby food manufacturer Nutricia last week said a recall of the brands in New Zealand was voluntary and it had no reason to believe its products are unsafe.
Fonterra, revealed on 3 August that 38 tonnes of its whey protein used by other manufacturers, including infant formula, was contaminated with a bacteria that can cause botulism.
Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus have also imposed a ban on Fonterra milk products, despite the co-operative saying it did not send any contaminated products to the three countries.
