An eight year old boy is in hospital with significant injuries after being attacked by his own dogs in Christchurch during the weekend.
The attack happened near Linfield Park in Bromley at about 8am on Saturday.
The family has asked for complete privacy and the condition of the boy has not been made public.
Christchurch City Council says the family of the boy has volunteered for the two rottweilers to be put down.
A police investigation into the attack, and whether the owners can be prosecuted, has begun.
