A removal company in Rotorua has been ordered to pay $40,000 to a employee who was seriously injured when he fell from the icy roof of a school building in 2012.

Housemovers Rotorua Limited was also fined $54,000 for failing to take all practicable steps to ensure the safety of an employee.

The man fell four metres and broke a leg in two places while attempting to untangle telephone lines during the relocation of the school building.
