The Transport Agency is warning motorists heading out of Wellington on State Highway One to expect extensive delays Wednesday evening.
A spokesperson says an accident north of the Churton Park offramp Wednesday afternoon has already got traffic backed up and it is expected to get worse as peak hour approaches.
He says drivers should expect to be diverted by police through the Churton Park off-ramp, or alternatively could go through Johnsonville.
