Salmon farmer says lobby group has cost jobs

A salmon farming company says further legal challenges by an environmental lobby group will delay new jobs.

New Zealand King Salmon chief executive Grant Rosewarne says his company currently employs 425 people and hoped to take on another 200 in the next two years.

But a move by the Environmental Defence Society to challenge the company's two new farms in the Marlborough Sounds could delay that.

Mr Rosewarne said the company was deeply disappointed by the further legal challenges.

The Environmental Defence Society says it will file papers in the Supreme Court on Thursday morning over two of the sites - Port Gore and Waitata.
