Dominion Post
Under the headline, 'Spy bill squeaks into law', The Dominion Post leads with the passing of the GCSB Bill in Parliament. The paper says the GCSB now has the power to spy on New Zealanders when acting under warrant and for other agencies including the SIS, the police and Defence.
The paper also says doctors are being advised to watch what they tweet, after some were reprimanded for overstepping the mark on social media.
The Press
The Press says the deadline for repairing about 90,000 houses in Christchurch has been brought forward by a year. Fletcher Building expects to complete the work on homes with damage under $100,000 by December next year, instead of 2015.
The front page also carries a picture of Cathy Allen and her dog Jack. They are among more than 50 red zone residents who have been photographed and shared their stories for an exhibition.
