The Earthquake Commission has brought forward its deadline for repairing damaged properties in Canterbury by a year.
Fletcher Building, the company in charge of the work, initially planned to have 80% of the work done by the end of next year, and to finish the rest in 2015.
However, the commission now says that work should all be done next year.
It manages about 80,000 home repairs that have $15,000 - $100,000 worth of damage.
The new deadline does not include repair work over the $100,000 cap being handled by private insurers.
