A man suspected of involvement in a fatal shooting in Petone made a brief appearance in Wellington District Court on Friday.
Dillin Pakai, 18, from Porirua, is charged with unlawful possession of a pistol and burglary of a building in Jackson Street in Petone.
He entered no plea and was remanded in custody to reappear in court next week.
A fight and gunshots were reported to police in Hutt Valley at about 10.40pm on Thursday. A dying man was found.
Another man, 43, was taken to hospital with stab wounds and he is to be interviewed by police.
The dead man's name will not be released until his next of kin have been informed.
