Auckland is drying out after a huge thunderstorm over the region caused flooding and lightning strikes, one of which made a direct hit on a house north of the city.
Metservice has scaled back its severe weather watch for Auckland but says regions further south may now be hit.
A woman escaped serious injury when her house in Makarau, north of Helensville, was struck by lightning.
Firefighters were called to pump water from flooded homes in Birkenhead, Beachhaven and Blockhouse Bay.
Severe thunder also triggered numerous security alarms in the Mount Roskill-Glendowie area.
The heavy rain has since eased.
Metservice's severe weather watch for Auckland has now been dropped but there is still a risk of thunderstorms over the Coromandel Peninsula and western Bay of Plenty.
