Traffic delays as crane taken down in Wellington

4:45 pm on 26 August 2013

Motorists in central Wellington are warned to expect delays on Taranaki Street on Monday afternoon, as a large crane which was used to demolish an earthquake-damaged building is dismantled.

The crane was set up in Lukes Lane last week to deconstruct a lift shaft that the Wellington City Council feared might collapse.

The council says Taranaki Street will be down to one lane in both directions as the crane is packed down and loaded on to trucks.

Further disruption will occur on Manners Street and Courtenay Place, which intersects Taranaki Street, about 7pm while the trucks manoeuvre out of the lane.
