Next year's Ellerslie International Flower Show may be the last one held in Christchurch.
The Christchurch City Council has voted to renew the contract to host the show for only one year instead of five and to carry out a full review so it can consider the show's long-term future.
The festival ran at a loss of $325,000 this year and a survey found it met the expectations of only 45% of those who visited.
Other variations to the contract the council has with the company that runs the show include the need to achieve an 80% satisfaction rate among those attending.
