Police in Whangarei are looking for three men who robbed a takeaway shop and bashed a worker with a hammer.
They say the trio went into the shop on William Jones Drive in Otangarei about 8.30pm on Monday armed with a pistol, a hammer and a knife.
One of the men jumped over the counter and hit the worker on the head with the hammer, took cash from the till and ran off.
The victim was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.
The hold-up is the fifth armed robbery in Northland in just three weeks.
A man armed with a fake pistol robbed the Onerahi Post Shop on Monday, a Kaikohe liquor store was hit at the weekend, a central Whangarei dairy two weeks ago and a Ruakaka storekeeper was robbed at gunpoint the week before that.
