Police say Otaki Beach body an unexplained death
Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found on Thursday morning on Otaki Beach, on the Kapiti Coast, on Thursday morning.
A section of the beach is cordoned off and police and forensic specialists are conducting a scene examination, which is expected to run into the evening.
Detective Inspector Chris Bensemann says the death is being treated as "unexplained".
Police intended to remove the man's body from the beach by the end of the day and formally identify him.
A postmortem will then be conducted to determine the cause of death.
