Three men were due to appear in the Whakatane District Court on Saturday charged with attempted murder over a double shooting in Kawerau on Friday morning.
Two men, aged 38 and 48, remain in a critical condition in Waikato Hospital after the shooting at a River Road property about 6.15am..
Two local men presented themselves to Kawerau Police Station on Friday night and have been charged along with another man.
Police say properties in the town were searched on Friday, with police locating a 29-year-old local man in one of those searches during the evening.
Subsequent to that arrest, police say two local men aged 21 and 52 presented themselves at Kawerau Police Station.
All three men were charged with attempted murder.
Police have not ruled out further arrests.
