A man appeared in court charged with murder after the finding of a body at Otaki Beach, on the Kapiti Coast.
Police have named the dead man as Edward Tahakura, 30, from Huntly. He was found on Thursday morning on Otaki Beach.
A man, 24, appeared at Hamilton District Court on Saturday morning and was remanded in custody.
Police are trying to find out why Mr Tahakura was at Otaki Beach.
The scene examination where his body was found has been completed.
