Christchurch police have arrested a second man over the death of Tony Lochhead in Rangiora last Friday.

A 39-year-old Christchurch man was arrested today and will appear in the Christchurch District Court tomorrow, charged with the murder of Mr Lochhead and the aggravated wounding of Mr Lochhead's brother, Peter Lochhead.

He is jointly charged with a 36-year old Rakaia man, who was arrested on Sunday night for a breach of bail.

Detective Inspector David Long said the man was arrested this morning at a car park in the Christchurch suburb of Hornby. The Police are not seeking anyone else.

Mr Long confirmed Tony Lochhead, 51, suffered a stab wound and said a knife had been recovered from the scene.
