A driver carrying drugs and a gun has been arrested after running from the police.
The police say they tried to stop the man after he was seen travelling north at high speed on State Highway 1, near Bombay, about 3:15pm.
Officers chased him for about two minutes before he crashed near Ramarama and ran from the car.
They say he dropped a backpack, which was later found to have drugs and a loaded semi-automatic pistol.
The man was found about 30 minutes after police dogs and a helicopter scoured the area around Quarry Road.
