Two accidents have kept the Nelson Marlborough Rescue helicopter busy on Sunday.
A three-year-old girl was flown to Wairau hospital after being hit by a bolting horse.
The accident happened near Linkwater between Havelock and Picton.
She has suffered injuries to her face and head.
The helicopter was then immediately sent to Takaka for an elderly woman who had fallen and fractured her hip.
She is in a stable condition in Nelson Hospital.
