The centre was badly affected by April's floods and major repairs have been carried out.

It has opened just in time for the South Island Masters Games, which start in Nelson on Saturday.

More than 2000 competitors are arriving in the region to take part in the week-long competition.

Sport Tasman general manager for facilities Brent Maru says it's brilliant the facility opened in time and hard work has made it happen.
