A person has been airlifted to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries after a collision between a car and a four-wheel-drive towing a horse float.
The collision happened on State Highway 1 north of Temuka, about 9.30am on Sunday.
An ambulance spokesperson says a person who had been trapped in the car has multiple traumas.
The spokesperson said the driver and horse were freed from the four-wheel-drive and the horse float, which were both on their side.
SH1 north of Temuka was closed and diversions were in place.
