KiwiRail says most train services in Wellignton are back to normal.
Eight trains were taken out of service on Monday after problems were detected with coupling mechanisms between carriages.
In many cases commuters had to travel by bus.
Most services are back to normal on Wednesday morning though some trains will have reduced seating.
