A man has been badly injured after he was assaulted in a Nelson city park on Thursday afternoon.
The 53-year-old victim was found hiding in a public toilet by police who responded to emergency calls at Anzac Park just after midday.
He had been beaten with a wooden pole and had injuries to his face and arms.
Two men have been arrested but police are seeking a third man.
Police are also trying to locate the weapon used, which is thought to be a metre-long pole.
