Hampsta may let disgruntled customers cancel contracts

Christmas club Hampsta says it will decide on a case-by-case basis if dissatisfied customers can cancel their contracts.

Some of them say they only joined the savings scheme so they could spend at Countdown supermarkets.

But the two split last month and Hampsta revealed on Thursday a replacement in the form of an online-only supermarket.

The scheme's terms and conditions normally stop refunds being given after the start of September.

Hampsta general manager Gary Alway says it is not out of the question that some customers may be allowed to leave with their money, and concedes some customers won't return next year.
