Court records show convicted fraudster Michael Swann is denying any involvement with a Rolls-Royce found in a shipping container.

Crown Law has gone to the High Court to have the blue 1922 luxury car seized, after it was found two months ago at a Dunedin freight yard.

Michael Swann stole $16.8 million from the former Otago District Health Board. He was released from jail in July, but still has a $6 million proceeds-of-crime order against him.

A police affadivit shows when detectives visited Mr Swann in Christchurch two weeks after finding the Rolls-Royce he said he had nothing to do with it and would not co-operate.

But another document shows the owner of the shipping container, Ken Logan, told police Mr Swann came to him before going to prison in 2009, asking if he could store some furniture.

Mr Logan said he had no idea the car was stored in the container.
