Another gun store targeted in Auckland

5:54 pm on 16 October 2013

There are fears the burglary of an Auckland gun store earlier this year could be linked to a similar crime in the city.

Three offenders broke into Wills Fishing and Firearms on Wairau Road on North Shore, taking 21 shotguns and 12 handguns about 10.15pm on 9 October.

Police say the theft was captured on CCTV, but the burglars were heavily disguised.

Detective Inspector Greg Cramer said they are looking at whether the incident is linked to a similar theft at Gun City in central Auckland in July.

Mr Cramer said the guns are likely to have found their way into criminal hands and how they may subsequently be used is a concern to him.

Anyone in the Wairau Road area on 9 October is being asked to get in touch with police.
