Dunedin mayor meets with hotel developers

7:11 pm on 16 October 2013

The mayor of Dunedin has met with the developers behind a proposed 27-storey hotel on Wednesday to see if they can agree on a way forward.

The development has been denied the necessary resource consents by the Dunedin City Council, and the developers, Betterways Advisory Limited, are appealing to the Environment Court.

Mayor Dave Cull says the hotel is worth $100 million to the city and he met with the developers in Auckland on Wednesday to see if they can make the project align with the Resource Management Act and the Dunedin District Plan.

Mr Cull says the city needs the $100 million investment and most of the community would like to see it happen.
