The search for a French man missing on the West Coast has been scaled down.
Yohan Simon, 32, failed to show up as expected on 21 October when he was due to be collected by a friend after a three day tramp.
On Sunday, a helicoper reached a hut in the Little Wanganui area where it was hoped Mr Simon may be, but there was no trace of him.
Police now believe he may have walked out of the bush, and are appealing for any sightings. Mr Simon has light brown dreadlocks.
Meanwhile, police on the West Coast are continuing inquiries into the whereabouts of a 15-year-old Liam Stirling who has been missing since Wednesday afternoon.
The teenager was on a bus travelling from Haast to Greymouth but got off when it stopped at Paringa.
