A riverside carpark in Lower Hutt has reopened after high river levels threatened cars parked there on Thursday.
Car owners were warned to move cars from the Riverbank Carpark as heavy rain caused river levels in the Hutt River to soar.
Some car owners moved their vehicles only just in time, as the river water inundated the car park.
The Hutt City Council says the river level has dropped and the car park and adjoining streets have reopened.
