The vehicle inspection company that lost a worker when a car fell and crushed him says the death is a tragic accident.
The man, who is understood to have been in his fifties, was working at a Vehicle Inspection New Zealand site in Palmerston North.
Police say the car fell off a brace at the Taonui Street workshop and onto the worker.
Another worker suffered what the company says were minor injuries.
The company has released a statement saying the managers and staff are deeply affected.
It says the accident was unfortunate and the company is extending its condolences.
